Washington, D.C. – Cargo Airline Association issued the following statement on the confirmation of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Markwayne Mullin:
The Cargo Airline Association congratulates Senator Markwayne Mullin on his confirmation as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. His confirmation comes at a critical moment during yet another funding lapse. DHS cannot afford a leadership vacuum, and we are encouraged that the Department will have the direction it needs to operate with stability. We look forward to working with the Secretary as he assumes this new role.
TSA and CBP officers are critical to keeping aviation secure and supply chains moving. Their work does not pause, and we are hopeful that Secretary Mullin’s confirmation will spur Congress to reach a bipartisan agreement to pay these essential frontline workers without delay.
