Washington, D.C. – The Cargo Airline Association (CAA), the leading voice for the air cargo industry, joined a broad coalition of organizations across the aviation, agriculture, satellite, and technology sectors in urging congressional leaders and the White House to support immediate action to overturn the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) 2020 Ligado Order, which continues to raise concerns regarding harmful interference risks to critical GPS and satellite-based services, including aviation.
“This extraordinary alliance of Americans working across our economy ask that you finally resolve these issues,” the letter read. “Given the ongoing concerns of harmful interference and Ligado’s apparent intent to not comply with the conditions of the Ligado Order, we urge you to work together with the FCC to finally grant the petitions for reconsideration of the Ligado Order. Additionally, we urge you to safeguard existing vital L-band operations to ensure that they can continue to benefit the American people free from harmful interference.”
The Satellite Safety Alliance-led letter calls for renewed coordination between Congress, the Administration, and the FCC to address long-pending petitions for reconsideration and bring closure to the Ligado proceeding.
