Washington, D.C. – The Cargo Airline Association (CAA), the leading voice of the air cargo industry, announced its strong support for the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure’s reconciliation provision that makes a landmark investment in modernizing America’s air traffic control (ATC) infrastructure, technology and workforce.
“This investment is a critical first step in preserving the United States’ position as the global gold standard in aviation safety,” said CAA President Lauren Beyer. “Outdated systems, aging infrastructure, and chronic staffing shortages continue to pose serious risks to the efficiency and resilience of our national airspace, and we applaud Chairman Graves and the committee for working to address these long-standing challenges.”
The House proposal builds on the momentum of the 2024 Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization law and represents a critical step forward for the aviation industry. Modernizing the ATC system will enhance safety, improve efficiency, reduce delays, and strengthen the supply chains that underpin the U.S. economy.
CAA emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration with Congress as the Senate works on legislation to address the challenges facing our air traffic system, which include the need for robust 24/7 staffing, the acceleration of the deployment of innovative technologies, and better coordination for fewer disruptions to time-sensitive cargo operations.
“We urge Congress to act quickly so this important legislation can move to the president’s desk without delay,” said Beyer.
